Shacker

A fun shot from the end of the photoshoot with Ben. His closet gave me inspiration to dive into menswear. Once I put it all on, I quickly realized I looked like a shacker (haha) but I rolled with it. Hopefully, we will have another shoot in the next week and I'll have some more outfit posts soon!

Understated Photoshoot

I like how this picture from my photoshoot with Ben looks very "real". Leather, sparkle, and leopard in one outfit, and yet, it looks natural. I arrived to the shoot naturally with my hair astray, no makeup, and channeling my tomboy "badass" look... Which leads me to another thing I love about fashion- you can really express your personality, emotions, generally how your life is going through what your wear. On the flip side, you can also drastically change how your feel/how your day goes through your clothes. By putting a smidge more effort into even the most minor details, you can go from feeling exhausted at 8 am and wanting to roll into class in sweats... to feeling a bit more confident in putting on liquid leggings, your favorite boots, and rocking a furry snood.

Leather Spectrum Photoshoot

Leather. The word can scare some, but I'm here to tell you that it's actually not that intimidating. As with many trends, there's a spectrum. You can add a little- like the leather lapel detail on a classic black blazer or a lot- like leather pants (or liquid leggings). The leather outfit highlighted below has the juxtaposition of feminine sex appeal and menswear classic. Leather obviously has a certain spice to it, and I couldn't resist the bright red cap-toe pumps (which were $9 at Target!) so I added a men's buttondown to switch things up a bit. Regardless, I loved what what done with leather this season, and that it's not the typical biker jacket. A leather dress is still on my list- just need to find one within the budget! Enjoy and look out for more looks from this shoot soon!

Photoshoot Preview

Skaist Taylor for Target Fur Vest  (only $23!!)/ Alya Cobalt Wrap Dress

For this photoshoot in particular, I wanted to highlight taking winter fashion trends from the runway to your closet. One of the main color themes is black and blue. Here, I paired a timeless wrap dress in cobalt blue with a black fur vest. While the shoulders on the vest are a bit more fashion forward, it takes the dress to a whole new level. Regardless if you take the plunge with fur, invest a jersey wrap dress (and in blue for something different!) Pair with black tights and a pointy toe pump, and you will never go out of style.

I'm looking forward to sharing more about winter fashion through this shoot and excited post the rest of the photos soon- keep a lookout!

Saw on a European fashion blog about how sheer nude tights are coming back and all the rage in Italy. I'm game. They make your legs look flawless. It's 4 am and I'm getting up for class in 3 hours. #nightowl

Hipster + Costar

Before I get into my outfit, I wanted to comment on the Neiman Marcus collection for Target. I was literally so pumped and then quickly disappointed when it came out. A lot of the designs left much to be desired, but I did find a few perfect pieces. Even better: I knew Knoxville might be hesitant to branch out into some of the designs, so I naturally waited for the sale to hit (and then mark down to 70% off). The result: this Proenza Schouler Sweatshirt for a whopping $9 and a fur vest to make an appearance in a later post. This is a total hipster outfit; I will admit, but it's quintessentially me. Costar, Molly Atticus (aka Addy) makes an appearance in the second shot. She's a kook but hilarious and a snuggle-bug.

Little Hippie

Sometimes it's fun to take risks with the unexpected. I'm known to wear more than one watch sometimes, and here, I layered my belts. By looking for different textures and colors, you can make a simple denim shirtdress a little more eclectic.

Also, I've changed my descriptions of my outfits! Each item acts as a link to either the exact piece or something similar- so enjoy.

Ended the day here= perfection.

Playing With Design

I've been playing with my daily outfit pics in InDesign and here's the result! Still needs some work but thought it was fun to switch things up a bit. Got this new J.Crew Blazer from my sister for Christmas and I love it!!! The color is gorgeous and will be timeless for years to come-- a perfect investment piece. Kudos to my Mimi for the top from LOFT :) Rediscovered these silk pants that I got in Italy this summer for a steal around 30 euro and also found these Jessica Simpson pumps circa 2007 before the majority of her designs turned south.

As you know, I'm naturally drawn to neutrals but I love to mix textures, patterns, and shapes. Wool/flannel, cotton, and silk may seem like they may not go, but I would encourage you to branch out and you may come up with an outfit something like this!

NYE in NYC

While we made a pitstop at Times Square, Tess and I knew ahead of time that we wouldn't have patience for the crowd or the cold. Instead, we met Abby (one of my bff's from interning this summer) at The Pressbox in Midtown. We bar hopped and had a fun and eventful night!

New York, I Love You XOXO

In a tribute to Gossip Girl and its series finale, Tess and I found it necessary to take a GG-inspired shot while getting dressed for New Year's Eve in NYC. In case you missed the social media updates, Tess and I decided Sunday to venture up to NYC for NYE. It was such a crazy and fun adventure, which I'm excited to share with you over the next few posts! Until next time-
